How does the feedback report in version 3.0 work?
This video walks through the updated feedback report in EssayGrader 3.0. We show you how to navigate your uploaded essays, view rubric-aligned highlights, edit feedback, and explore tools like AI detection and grammar analysis to support student improvement.
EssayGrader 3.0 offers a streamlined interface for viewing and editing essay feedback, making it easy for educators to provide detailed, rubric-aligned responses to student writing. Here's a walkthrough of the updated feedback report features.
After logging in, you'll see a dashboard displaying all the essays you've previously uploaded. Click on any essay to open it in a new tab, where you'll be presented with the full feedback report.
The feedback report displays the essay on one side and a detailed feedback panel on the other. Highlights in the essay correspond to specific areas of the rubric, making it easy to see where each piece of feedback applies.
Structure: For example, if the structure section is scored 2 out of 4, all related highlights in the essay will be labeled with a matching indicator (e.g., “1” for Structure).
Development: Similarly, indicators like “2” may relate to development, allowing you to quickly locate and assess relevant comments.
Each highlighted section ties back to a rubric category, and at the bottom of the report, you’ll find overall feedback summarizing strengths and suggestions for improvement.
You can edit or modify both the individual suggestions and the general feedback.
The rubric score for each category can be adjusted at any time—just click, select a new score, and save or cancel as needed.
You can also delete any feedback if it no longer applies.
The overall grade and final suggestion at the bottom of the report are fully editable as well.
The Writing Report section offers insights into:
Grammar and sentence structure
Clarity issues
Logical inconsistencies
Suggestions for improvement
Each type of feedback is color-coded (e.g., orange for grammar), and clicking on a comment in the Writing Report will highlight the relevant section in the essay. Each piece of feedback includes:
A description of the issue
Its impact
A suggested revision
Teachers can delete any comment they disagree with, maintaining full control over the report content.
EssayGrader 3.0 includes an AI detection tool. It will indicate whether the content appears to be written by a human or AI, along with a confidence score. For example, a result showing "low confidence of AI writing" suggests the text was likely written by the student.
You can add custom comments anywhere in the essay:
Click to insert a comment (e.g., on the introduction).
Save, edit, or delete the comment as needed.
A list of all active comments is displayed and remains tied to the relevant text.
Toggle Highlights: Turn off highlights for a clean, distraction-free reading experience.
Export Feedback: Easily export the entire feedback report for sharing or record-keeping.
