Student & Educator Data Privacy

We take a privacy-first approach with strict data minimization practices.

What we don’t collect

  • Student names, emails, or IDs are never required to grade assignments.
  • We don’t collect student login credentials or personal identifiers.

How submissions are handled

  • All student work (essays, assignments, rubrics) remains fully owned by the school/teacher.
  • Submissions are encrypted in transit and at rest.
  • Submissions are used only to generate grading feedback.
  • Submissions are never reused to train AI models, resold, or shared with outside parties.

Educator control

  • Teachers and schools have full control over student submissions.
  • Submissions can be deleted at any time by the educator.

Compliance & security frameworks

  • FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act)
  • COPPA (Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act)
  • SOC 2 Type I certification
  • Alignment with the NIST cybersecurity framework
  • Industry-standard security protocols
