How do I reset my Google permissions for EssayGrader?

How do I reset my Google permissions for EssayGrader?

The first time you link your Google account for logging in or when you connect Google Classroom you must select all of the reqested permissions. if you don't you will eventually receive an error and EssayGrader will not work the way it is supposed to.

The full set of Google permssions are needed for properly (and where applicable):

  • logging in to EssayGrader
  • accessing your Google Drive within EssayGrader
  • connecting fully to Google Classroom (this may be the same Google account or a different one, depending on you personal scenario)

If you receive a permissions-related error, you will need to reset your Google connection in order to fix this.

It may be possible to simply unlink your Google account from the Integrations tab in the EssayGrader account settings.

You can then relink by choosing to import essays into Google Classroom from the homepage or within a Google Classroom assignment.

If this does not solve the permissions problem, however, then you will need to revoke permissions from your Google account itself.

  1. Navigate to the Connections section of your Google account settings – https://myaccount.google.com/connections

  1. If you are not already logged in to your Google account, you will be asked to do so first.

Remember to select the Google account for which you are having the permissions issue – either the account you use to login to EssayGrader and access Google Drive (if either is applicable), or the account linked to your Google Classroom

  1. Scroll until you find the EssayGrader connection and select that.

  1. Scroll to the bottom of the window and select Delete all connections you have with EssayGrader.

  1. Confirm the deletion and return to EssayGrader.

  1. If you use Google to login to EssayGrader, select it and re-setup the login, making sure to select all permissions this time. If you login with an email and password, ignore this step.

  1. If you connect to Google Classroom, the next time you import essays from Google Classroom you will need to set up the integration again and this time ensure you select all available permissions.

If you are still receiving the permissions error after following the above steps, you can try unlinking the EssayGrader integration, as described at the beginning of the article, and then following the Google account steps above. Do not relink the integration prior to following the above Google steps.

If you still receive the permissions error after both the above methods, please contact us at support@essaygrader.ai for further assistance.
